Madagascar Information

The Republic of Madagascar has been an inspiration for an animated movie of the same title—and rightfully so. It’s one of the most mystical island nations n the world, with more than 85 percent of its flora and fauna are totally endemic in the area.  Spending a holiday in what used to be part of the large country of India is homage to its uniqueness, heralded beauty, and rich culture and heritage.

Experience Its Rarity

One of the best ways to experience Madagascar is to see for yourself its rarity through its varied landscapes and natural landmarks. Deep in some of the forests are over 5 Baobab tree species that are not found anywhere else in the world, as well as odd animals and insects such as Dracula ants, bamboo lemur, fossa that is related to mongoose, and tenrec, an insectivore.

The Tsingy de Bemaraha stands out through its out-of-this-world karst or limestone formations that stand about 170 meters from the ground. On the northern section is the carefully protected nature reserve while the other side is open to the public to take advantage of.

Let’s Go to the Beach

Located in the Indian Ocean and composed of more than 200 smaller islands, Madagascar is also a beach haven. Most of the beaches are made up of powdery white sand, well-defined coastlines, and sparkling blue waters. Some of the most popular beaches include Nosy Be, which has its own marine preserve; Ile Ste Marie, which is well loved by people who enjoy some privacy, and Morondova, with its wide shores.

Defined By Its People

There are still many tribes that thrive in Madagascar such as the Malagasy, who are further subdivided into various groups. They have their own language and set of faith, though some of them have already adopted Protestantism, Islam, and Christianity. They are highly known for their warmth and great hospitality.
